The trail is forested here, but the terrain is still rocky enough to provide great views of Hamilton Mountain and the river toward Bonneville Dam. Apr 17, 2023 · Bottom Line: This is a really fun boardwalk trail that switchbacks ~600 feet up the basalt core of an old volcano with outstanding views of the Columbia River. Trail is only accessible through the Hadley and Equestrian trailhead routes. Alternatively, drive east on Beacon Rock State Park features year round camping along the shore of the Columbia River. The engineering here is pretty marvelous.
